Global construction-equipment sales fell from $243 billion in 2023 to $237 billion in 2024. North America, Europe, and South America saw declines in 2024; however, India and China experienced sales growth.
Caterpillar remained the top construction-equipment manufacturer for the second consecutive year in 2024, followed by Komatsu, Deere, XCMG, Liebherr, Sany, Hitachi, Volvo CE, JCB. The last on the list is the only new company in the top 10 list, Sandvik Mining, which pushed Doosan Bobcat out of the top 10.
Volvo announced a $261 million expansion, including upgrades at its sole U.S. manufacturing facility in Pennsylvania. JCB is also bolstering its U.S. presence with a new factory in Texas, which will focus on manufacturing telehandlers and lifts, in response to the tariffs President Trump imposed in April.
